September’s Global Semiconductor Sales Rise 5.2%

(October 31, 2005) San Jose, Calif. &#8212 Worldwide semiconductor sales increased to $19.6 billion in September, a 5.2% increase from the $18.6 billion reported in August, reports the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA). Global chip sales increased by 5.6% from the $18.5 billion reported for September 2004. Third-quarter sales at $58.7 billion were up by 8.9% from the second quarter, when total sales amounted to $55.6 billion. Semiconductor sales for the first 9 months of 2005 totaled $167.6 billion, an 6.1% increase from the first 9 months of 2004.
