CFS sells DI water treatment systems to Asian market

January 26, 2006 — /CFS/ — CHANHASSEN, Minn. — Custom Fab Solutions, LLC (CFS), a custom plastic/metal fabricator and systems integrator serving technology industries, has sold its DI water treatment system to several customers in Singapore, Malaysia, China, Thailand and Japan. The approximately $700,000 in orders represents seven units that have already shipped, and 28 that will ship in the next 60 days.

Responding to requests to fabricate a system based on specifications that were not being fulfilled in products that already existed, CFS manufactured the systems, drawing on in-house expertise in metal and plastic fabrication, electro-polishing, and systems integration. “It gives CFS a great deal of satisfaction to know that an evolving business such as ours can develop a technologically sophisticated product that is able to compete in highly competitive offshore markets,” said Bill Braunwarth, CFS Director of Sales and Marketing.

As an integral step in disk drive manufacturing, the CS-425-01/CS-603-01 DI water treatment system filters incoming DI water and allows the end-user to control the concentration level of dissolved oxygen in a DI water flow stream. Excessive and un-controlled amounts of oxygen in DI water is known to cause adverse process results and can create micro-bubbles, which must be removed to ensure accurate particle count measurements.

CFS is one of numerous Minnesota companies that sell products and services to this important Pacific Rim market. “This sale is just one of many that continues to highlight the Twin Cities area as a player on the global business stage,” said Braunwarth.

Recent sales also reflect success in the relationship formed with Quest Technology, its representative in Asia. Twenty-one of the systems were ordered directly by customers, and the balance procured by Quest Technology. The Asian company was retained by CFS just last December. “We are pleased that the relationship is already producing this significant result,” said Braunwarth.

Quest Technology, with offices throughout the region, is a leader in micro-contamination control engineering services. The 20-year-old company is staffed with a team of 120 dedicated service personnel of whom half are engineering professionals. The products and services offered by Quest complement those provided by CFS.

CFS anticipates that this success will lead to further development of innovative niche products. “We continue to seek out companies that need the core competencies provided by CFS,” said Braunwarth. “Our team is experienced in plastic and metal fabrication and integrating a variety of technologies to produce systems and products to meet a customer’s specific need.”
