February 14, 2006 – JMAR Technologies Inc., San Diego, CA, has finalized a licensing deal with Colorado State U. to utilize a discharge pumped soft x-ray laser.
The laser, developed under the auspices of the National Science Foundation’s Engineering Research Center for Extreme Ultraviolet Science and Technology, produces high-intensity soft x-ray radiation at extremely short wavelengths, and will be paired with JMAR’s laser-produced plasma x-ray source to create an ultrahigh-resolution analytical chemistry tool.
Target applications include defect analysis and repairs for the semiconductor industry, as well as applications in medicine (molecular-scale cancer therapy) and nuclear forensics.
