Leading manufacturer of cleanroom products to deploy IFS’ mixed-mode manufacturing solution

February 16, 2006 — /PRNewswire/ — CHICAGO, Ill. — IFS announced today that Contec, Inc., a global manufacturer of contamination control products for critical manufacturing environments, has signed a contract to implement IFS Applications(TM) business software. The company will deploy IFS’ mixed-mode manufacturing solution on IBM xSeries(R) hardware at its headquarters and manufacturing plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. IFS regional sales and services partner brij(R) signed the contract with Contec.

“One of Contec’s goals has always been to do ‘whatever it takes’ to satisfy our customers,” said Contec CEO Jack McBride. “One of our primary strengths and strategic advantages has been the ability to manufacture many SKUs — many of which are custom — and provide these products into multiple markets. This has created a very complex company from all aspects of our business — sales, development, operations, and manufacturing.”

Aware that its existing IT infrastructure could no longer support continued growth of such a complex organization, Contec selected IFS Applications to enhance its ability to satisfy its customers and manage complexity while continuing to grow. Integrating Contec’s standalone systems into a single enterprise system will enable the company to handle additional sales growth without adding head count to its operational team.

“This will make each incremental dollar of sales more profitable to the company,” McBride said. “Aside from simplification, we expect that the system will lead to good long-term cost savings from modules such as the enhanced planning systems. Improved planning will enable us to reduce inventory and focus on other initiatives, such as lean manufacturing.”

“We needed an integrated system that had good quality management, SPC, manufacturing, document management, and financial systems in one easy-to-use package,” added Tom Wilson, Manager of Information Systems for Contec. “After evaluating many other ERP packages, the team felt that IFS provided the best functionality to meet Contec’s business requirements. We expect that implementing IFS Applications will simplify and streamline our operations, improving Contec’s profitability.”

“IFS’ mixed-mode capabilities enable manufacturers such as Contec to run multiple production environments simultaneously or switch from one to another quickly and smoothly, without disrupting their business operations,” said Cindy Jaudon, president of IFS North America. “We look forward to partnering with Contec in their ongoing efforts to increase efficiency, reduce costs, anticipate market trends, and make critical strategic decisions.”
