Micron cutting Scottish chipmaking ops

February 13, 2006 – Micron Europe plans to cease manufacturing activity at its facility in East Kilbride, Scotland, a move that will cut its 300-employee base there in half, according to local paper The Herald.

The US-based chipmaker, which has been cutting back in low-margin business areas, indicated the remaining staff at East Kilbride will be focused on sales and distribution of products throughout Europe, including the Crucial Memory operation for direct sales of memory products.
