February 6, 2006 — /MEDICAL INDUSTRY E-MAIL NEWS SERVICES(TM)/ — BETHESDA Md. — The Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) today announced that FDA’s Scott Gottlieb MD, will be speaking at the upcoming PDA Pharmaceutical Anti-Counterfeiting Forum, March 02-03 2006, in Bethesda MD.
In his current position as FDA Deputy Commissioner for Medical & Scientific Affairs, Dr. Gottlieb is the senior advisor on major agency matters, including regulations, policy and administrative programs. His office works with all of FDA’s centers on implementing and coordinating the agency’s regulatory and administrative policies aimed at advancing public health.
FORUM HIGHLIGHTS:
During this 2-day forum, leading experts from FDA, USP, US Depts of Commerce and Justice, and Health Canada, will provide the latest approaches for implementing strategies against the threat of pharmaceutical counterfeiting within the current regulations. They will also review how participants can comply with quality control/assurance standards within their own organizations. Industry experts will compare the technologies available, which include holograms, chemical markers, inks, and track and trace technologies, such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), enabling participants to learn strategies for selection and implementation as a layered approach to combating pharmaceutical counterfeiting.
