AMIS absorbs hearing-aid IC designer

April 28, 2006 – AMIS Holdings Inc., parent company of mixed-signal and digital IC producer AMI Semiconductor, has agreed to acquire certain assets of Starkey Laboratories Inc.’s IC design center for $6 million in cash.

The business, located in Colorado Springs, CO, develops low-power audiology ICs used in Starkey’s hearing aids. Under terms of the deal, AMIS also will be major supplier of silicon for Starkey’s hearing aids, under a long-term supplier agreement.

The deal is expected to close in 2Q06, and be neutral to AMIS’ non-GAAP earnings/share in 2006.
