Applied joins SRC for input into R&D agenda

April 4, 2006 – Applied Materials Inc. has joined the Semiconductor Research Consortium (SRC), a university research consortium spun out from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) as a research cooperative supporting the domestic semiconductor industry.

The SRC boasts nearly two dozen companies and partners as well as 100 universities worldwide. Applied already has participated with other SRC members in planning the next five years of research by consortium members, and will take a lead role in collaborating on enhancements to the research agenda for materials and processes associated with semiconductor manufacturing, the SRC noted in a statement.

“The SRC has a uniquely valuable and proven model for research and collaboration between industry and academia that will help ensure continued innovation in an era requiring many new materials and technologies,” stated Mark Pinto, CTO of Applied Materials.
