Cimetrix launches Interface A services business

April 18, 2006 – Cimetrix Inc., Salt Lake City, UT, is adding a services unit to its software-sales business to help provide yield and manufacturing data management services for fabs and fabless semiconductor companies.

Current DMSC offerings include manufacturing execution system (MES) application deployment, upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance; yield management system deployment, upgrades, and integration; and other project-specific application deployments.

The unit is part of Cimetrix’s global services group, which offers custom project services, factory automation outsourcing, application support, product enhancements, technical support, and educational programs. The company also sells a line of software, CIMPortal, for implementing the SEMI Interface A (EDA) standards, including ones for common equipment model, equipment self-description, equipment client authentication and authorization, and data collection management.

“The proliferation of fab-wide advanced process control solutions will generate an immediate need for efficient access to quality data streams generated through Interface A compliant tools,” stated Kourosh Vahdani, VP of Cimetrix’s global services unit. “We see a tremendous opportunity in offering our data management solutions and expertise for a complete fab wide data management architecture.”

“The Interface A standards recently approved by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) will deliver greater access to quality data from manufacturing equipment,” added Bill Reid, director of the DMSC. “The expertise provided by DMSC can be utilized by IDMs to define, collect, store, and use this data throughout the manufacturing process.”
