Lexar files NAND flash complaint vs. Toshiba

April 12, 2006 – Lexar Media Inc., Fremont, CA, has filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission (ITC) alleging that Japan’s Toshiba Corp. and its US subsidiaries are infringing upon its patented NAND flash technologies.

The complaint specifically targets Toshiba’s 1-16Gbit single- and multilevel cell NAND flash chips, seeking to prohibit import and sales of the technologies in the US as well as products that contain them.

Lexar won a $450 million ruling last spring that found Toshiba had misappropriated technologies from the company, relating to an agreement to codevelop NAND flash memory for digital cameras, and Toshiba’s subsequent about-face partnership with SanDisk.
