Toppan opens expanded Korea maskmaking site

April 21, 2006 – Toppan Photomasks Inc., Round Rock, TX, said it has begun customer qualifications for 90nm and 65nm prototype development at its expanded site in Ichon, South Korea. The addition, announced in June 2005, includes a 750 sq. m cleanroom, an advanced e-beam pattern generator, and state-of-the-art inspection equipment and process technology.

Attending the grand opening ceremony were Sohn Hak-Kyu, governor of Gyeonggi Province; Ichon city officials; Joo Doug-Young, vice chairman and CEO of the Korean Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA); and customers including Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., MagnaChip Semiconductor, and foundry DongbuAnam Semiconductor Inc.

Toppan similarly upgraded its Singapore facilities in early 2005, expanding capacity by 25%.
