May 12, 2006 – Samsung Electronics, Hynix Semiconductor, and Infineon Technologies are digging into their wallets once again over their participation in a DRAM price-fixing scheme several years ago.
The trio reportedly has agreed to pay $160 million to settle civil litigation — Samsung $67 million, Hynix $73 million, and Infineon $20 million. Claims are still pending against other alleged participants in the scheme, including Micron Technology, Elpida Memory, and four other chipmakers.
Between them, Samsung, Hynix, and Infineon already have agreed to pay roughly $645 million in fines since 2004.
