Mitsubishi Electric added to DRAM antitrust list

May 23, 2006 – Mitsubishi Electric Corp. said that US antitrust investigators have requested details of its previous memory chip sales, as part of a widening investigation into DRAM price fixing at several companies.

The US DOJ wants documents and other information about the DRAM business of Mitsubishi Electric and Electronics USA Inc., as well as its parent, Mitsubishi Electric, and affiliate companies, all of which withdrew from the segment in early 2003. The company also noted that civil antitrust lawsuits have been filed against it and certain of its subsidiaries.

Infineon, Samsung, Elpida, and Hynix all have pled guilty to charges, paid fines, and reached settlements totaling close to $1 billion since 2004.
