Silterra to make Key ASIC’s devices

May 22, 2006 – Key ASIC, a Santa Clara, CA-based provider of ASIC and system-on-chip services, has signed a partnership with foundry Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. to offer streamlined design-to-manufacture services for ASICs in the mobile and consumer electronics markets.

Under the deal, Key ASIC will provide access to its IP portfolio and design services, including its KeySoC ARM-based CPU platform and memory blocks, on Silterra’s 0.18- and 0.13-micron CMOS process technologies. Key ASIC’s technology includes a variety of mixed-signal blocks and peripheral interfaces for applications such as PMP/portable games, MP3/digital audio players, digital imaging/video, mobile phones, and wireless networking.

“Because we have a core competence in low-power and high-performance design and an IP portfolio targeted for consumer applications, Silterra was a natural foundry choice by virtue of its focus in the same market segments and its high-quality silicon process technologies,” stated Kah Yee Eg, founder and CEO of Key ASIC.
