Dongbu readies 0.13-micron NOR flash

June 12, 2006 – South Korea’s Dongbu Electronics says it has completed development of a NOR flash memory process with Taiwan’s Eon Silicon Solution Inc. using 0.13-micron process technology on 200mm wafers. Volume production is expected to begin in 3Q06, ramping to 3000 wafers/month in 2007.

The new process encompasses flash memory devices in 32MB, 64MB, and 128MB capacities, operating at 3.3V, targeting mobile applications and consumer electronics. By year’s end, Dongbu says it will extend the process to support implementation of memory devices operating at 1.8V, with volume production for that lower-voltage process starting in early 2007.

The foundry started producing NOR flash devices with 0.18-micron process technologies since 2004, ultimately ramping production to 3500 wafers/month.
