Semitool hires SEMATECH, Philips copper interconnect GM

August 16, 2006 – Semitool Inc., Kalispell, MT, has named Klaus Pfeifer as GM of its copper interconnect business. He was formerly program manager for copper low-k integration with SEMATECH’s interconnect division, working with interconnect in advanced dielectrics and metallization. He was an assignee from Philips, where he spent 18 years in a variety of technology management positions, including MRAM project manager and manager of several of the company’s global equipment productivity and selection teams.

“His experience with SEMATECH has given him a thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by the introduction of copper and low-k dielectric materials into the wafer-manufacturing process,” stated Larry Murphy, president of Semitool, adding that “we are already benefiting from his knowledge and leadership skills.”
