Qimonda drops Saifun NOR flash license

October 13, 2006 – Saifun Semiconductors Ltd. says that Qimonda AG, former memory chip unit of Infineon Technologies AG and a “significant customer,” is ramping down its current nitride read-only memory (NROM)-related activity, and will continue to license Saifun’s NROM technology on a limited basis under an amended license agreement.

The decision will not impact Saifun’s 3Q results, but after 4Q06 Saifun expects to receive no license or service fees from Qimonda and only limited royalties.

Saifun licensees include Macronix International, Matsushita, NEC Electronics, SMIC, Sony Corp., Spansion, and Tower Semiconductor. The company’s licensing revenues in 2Q06 were $11.1 million, about 64% of total revenues. Total 2005 sales rose 157% to $78.6 million.
