Gigaphoton opening new R&D site, boosting laser source production

January 31, 2007 – Gigaphoton has completed construction of a new building at is headquarters in Oyama, Japan, to house R&D and support functions, enabling it to hike laser source production at its existing facility.

The new facility including a Class-1000 cleanroom including expanded R&D capabilities, laser light source maintenance training, customer support administration functions, and a spare parts warehouse.

The existing facility will be fully dedicated to production of the company’s laser systems, which will double manufacturing capacity by as early as April, said the company, which claims to have held a 30% share of the laser light source market in 2006, based on number of units sold.
