OSD Demand Outpaces ICs

(February 28, 2007) SCOTTSDALE, AZ &#151 The optoelectronics, sensors and actuators, and discretes (OSD) market grew 10% in 2006, one percentage point higher than the IC market’s 9% increase, says IC Insights’ “O-S-D Report.” Optoelectronics and discretes each represented 43% of the $38.2 billion OSD market revenue. Sensors and actuators hit $5.3 billion, with MEMS-based devices accounting for 80% of revenues.
