Profits jump for Japanese wafer-clean tool supplier

April 4, 2007 – SES Co., a manufacturer of wafer-cleaning equipment, expects its annual profits to double to about 2.5 billion yen (US $21.2 million) through March 2008, on 10% higher sales of about 24 billion yen ($203.9 million), citing growing demand from chipmakers supplying components for cellular phones and home electronics, according to Japanese press reports.

The company projects shipments of single-wafer tools rising fivefold to slightly over 2 billion yen ($17.0 million), with demand for multiwafer cleaning tools also remaining strong. Sales at the company’s solar cell production operations (acquired from subsidiary SE Techno Co.) are expected to exceed 1 billion yen ($8.5 million).
