ASMI son del Prado promoted to CEO

May 22, 2007 – Chuck del Prado will succeed his father, Arthur del Prado, as CEO of ASM International following the latter’s retirement in March 2008, the company said today. The younger del Prado currently is president and GM of ASMI America.

The younger del Prado joined ASMI in 2001 direct marketing, sales, and service activities for the company’s European operations. Prior to that, he spent five years with ASML in sales and manufacturing managerial roles, in Taiwan and the Netherlands. Since 2003 he has directed sales, marketing and service of all of ASMI’s frontend product lines to US customers, and has led global product management, R&D, manufacturing, and service of the company’s epitaxy and transistor/capacitor product lines.

“Chuck has 20 years’ experience working in the electronics industry, an excellent career track record, and has also done an outstanding job leading our activities in the key US market,” said Paul van den Hoek, chairman of the ASMI supervisory board, in a statement. “We believe he brings energy and judgment to the role and is well-equipped to take over the leadership of the company.”
