Samsung sues Renesas in US memory spat

May 8, 2007 – Samsung Electronics Co. has filed a lawsuit in the US against Renesas Technology Corp. and its US subsidiary, alleging patent infringement of two memory chip patents, according to various media reports.

The South Korean chip giant is seeking an unspecified monetary sum and an order to stop Japan’s Renesas from using the technology.

Bloomberg, Dow Jones, and the Associated Press note that the new complaint follows similar litigation filed earlier this year by Renesas against Samsung, also in a Delaware court, alleging use of DRAM patented technologies. Renesas also is pursuing a patent complaint against Samsung with the US International Trade Commission.
