UMC, Melexis deliver 0.18-micron auto chips

July 5, 2007 – UMC and Belgian firm Melexis say they are shipping ICs using 0.18-micron processes with embedded flash memory (eFlash process and eFlash macro) to auto-module producers for assembly, targeting applications such as automotive sensors.

Delivering products with an embedded 0.18-micron flash processor is an important step for Melexis, allowing the company to offer flexibility on integrated automotive systems on a chip, noted Rudi De Winter, CEO of Melexis, in a statement.
