August 22, 2007 — Houston Technology Center (HTC) has launched a new initiative, HTC-Americas, to position Houston as the gateway to the US for Mexican and Latin American technology companies. The program offers foreign companies access to HTC’s acceleration program including business guidance; entrepreneurial education; and a community of technology and business leaders, service providers, and investors. In addition, HTC offers such companies office space in its midtown facility.
HTC-Americas focus on nanotechnology and four other key sectors: energy, information technology, life sciences, and NASA/aerospace technology. The program aims to help companies on both sides improve and expand their businesses and network of contacts
“The program will create opportunities for US companies to work in cooperation with new technologies, businesses and investors from Mexico and Latin America,” said Carlos Lara, Chairman of the HTC-Americas Committee. The first phase of the program will introduce US companies to Mexican markets, highlighted by a rising demand for technologies. Several Mexican companies are already working with the program and are using HTC’s services, including its acceleration program and office space.
