August 27, 2007 — Technology Partners, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based venture capital firm investing in clean tech and life sciences, has formed Fund VIII, which it has capitalized at $300 million. Fund VIII will be equally directed toward clean tech and life sciences companies — a strategy the firm has leveraged successfully in the past. Technology Partners will continue to invest in seed, early-stage, and later stage opportunities.
Technology Partners’ clean tech investments primarily focus on energy technology, water technology and advanced materials. Life sciences investments focus on opportunities in neuroscience and lifestyle therapies—in areas such as aesthetics, obesity, and women’s health. Technology Partners says it is uniquely positioned to take advantage of convergence opportunities that require experience in both clean tech and life sciences, such as the next generation of biofuels and biomaterials.
Technology Partners’ team includes general partners Ira Ehrenpreis, Roger Quy, Jim Glasheen, and Sheila Mutter; and Ted Ardell as a venture partner, which collectively have a long history in the clean tech and life sciences sectors.
