TI Buys RFIC Design Business

TI will combine ICD’s design capabilities with its high-performance analog and low-power microcontroller product portfolio. Demand is increasing for industrial, commercial, and residential systems to incorporate short-range wireless technologies, said David Jones, precision analog business manager, TI, adding that TI is broadening its portfolio to offer more complete RF solutions through the acquisition. ICD provides a core analog IC design and intellectual property (IP) portfolio, as well as physical layout, test engineering, and project management capabilities.

Its regional design influence tool (RDIT) shows Apple’s design activity to have a significant impact on the global electronics supply chain.
