GCS, Micromem to develop MRAMs

September 18, 2007 – Micromem Technologies Inc. has signed a deal to have pure-play GaAs foundry Global Communication Semiconductors Inc. (GCS) to help make Micromem’s first MRAM devices.

Under the deal, GCS will design and build a commercial MRAM device using Micromem’s technology, and the two firms will further work with “specific potential partners” to design a commercial product. Fabrication is expected to start by year’s end.

“We are very pleased to be working with Micromem and taking its technology from the laboratory and moving it towards commercialization and ultimately production,” said Jerry Curtis, president/CEO of GCS, in a statement.
