Korean test firm fends off patent suit

September 4, 2007 – Korean specialty memory test handler supplier TechWing Inc. says it has won a civil lawsuit filed by Mirae Corp. regarding patent infringement and compensation for damages.

The company says that the Suwon District Court had “eventually dismissed” the suit involving five patents, finding them “already invalidated or not related to TechWing products” following a similar decision by the Korean Patent Court and Supreme Court. The firm also noted that it has filed its own suit against Mirae, alleging the firm’s memory test handlers infringe on TechWing’s patented “temperature control technology.”

Mirae originally filed the suit in Dec. 2004, and last November a court issued an injunction of TechWing products claimed to infringe on the patents.
