October 18, 2007 – Amtech Systems Inc. says its subsidiary Tempress Systems Inc. has received $17.4M in orders for diffusion processing systems from solar cell customers — one new one in Asia, and more orders from two existing customers, including one from Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Ltd. for a 200MW system. The amount of the new orders comes close to matching Amtech’s total solar orders for its entire fiscal year 2007 ($21.4M), vs. just $8.1M a year ago.

Meanwhile, Amtech also says it plans to launch a $34M public offering of common stock, using proceeds for unspecified “capital and general corporate purposes.” A registration statement is expected to be filed with the SEC in the next few days.
