Book introduces kids to MEMS and nanotechnology

October 9, 2007 — Bourne Research LLC has published a new science and engineering book aimed at children. “MEMS and Nanotechnology for Kids,” written by Marlene Bourne, president and principal analyst of Bourne Research, gives readers a basic overview of MEMS and nanotechnology, describing how they work, where they are found and why they are useful.

“‘MEMS and Nanotechnology for Kids’ aims to inspire boys and girls alike to pursue the study of science, technology, engineering and math by showing the direct impact these fields have on things kids use or interact with on a daily basis.” Bourne said in a news relase.

The 32-page book, written for ages 11-14, includes 80 color photos, explores what readers can find at the micro and nano scaled and describes how various MEMS devices and nanomaterials are being put to use in all kinds of products.

Bourne is also the author of “A Consumer’s Guide to MEMS and Nanotechnology,” released earlier this year.
