October 3, 2007 — Infineon Technologies AG and Japanese microphone vendor Hosiden are cooperating to develop MEMS microphones.
Infineon brings its knowledge of MEMS to the partnership, while Hosiden adds its expertise in device integration and markets, according to an Infineon news release.
“Our vision and goal is to form a strong alliance with Hosiden,” Peter Schiefer, a vice president at Infineon, said in the news release. “We combine the strengths of two technologically leading companies to jointly develop a family of silicon microphones. These will have smaller package sizes than today’s solutions, enable high-end acoustics for better sound quality and provide digital interfaces for reduced interference.”
