October 22, 2007 – Sarnoff Corp. says its silicon wafer foundry has been accredited as a “microelectronics trusted source” for the US Department of Defense and all other US government users, able to offer foundry services — including CMOS, BiCMOS, silicon-on-sapphire (SOS), silicon-on-insulator (SOI), and bipolar processing — for military quality microelectronics applications, including microcircuit emulation, radiation-hardened ICs, CCD and CMOS imagers, MEMS-based sensors, and MOSFET power devices.
The trusted foundry program was initiated in response to increased closures of US-based wafer foundries that can provide electronic technologies for products designated under “national security,” the company explained in a statement.
