Synopsys snaps up verification firm Sandwork

October 3, 2007 – Synopsys Inc. says it has acquired Sandwork Design Inc. for an undisclosed amount, adding advanced analog and mixed-signal verification to its portfolio.

Sandwork’s tools include SPICE Explorer, a transistor-level design debugging environment; WaveView Analyzer, an AMS waveform analyzer; and SpiceCheck which offers electrical rule checks of transistor-level netlists. These capabilities will complement Synopsys’ Discovery AMS simulators, noted Paul Lo, SVP and GM of Synopsys’ AMS Group, in a statement.

“The combination of Synopsys’ advanced analog verification solution and Sandwork’s proven analysis, verification and debug tools will help alleviate this pressure and help enable our customers to further reduce development costs and deliver complex, high-performance chips,” stated Sandwork CEO Jack Yao.
