TI buys power management firm PowerPrecise

October 10, 2007 – Texas Instruments has acquired PowerPrecise Solutions Inc., a Virginia-based fabless firm developing portable power management IC technology.

The move accelerates TI’s development of battery and power management ICs across a range of applications — robotics, power tools, and electric bikes, as well as larger batteries used in uninterruptible power supplies and hybrid vehicles, the company explained in a statement.

For PowerPrecise, the benefits are obvious: access to more technology, resources, personnel, and TI’s advanced silicon processes, noted Gary Davison, company founder/president/CEO. The company, started in 2002, has about 28 employees and offices in the US and Taiwan.
