November 28, 2007 – Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. Ltd. has signed a trio of contracts with unidentified polysilicon suppliers that will allow the firm to boost its output to 40MW of PV modules. Deliveries are expected to be completed by the end of 1Q08.
Yingli chairman/CEO Liansheng Miao said in a statement that the new polysilicon supplies will help the company “for the near future,” and are in line with the company’s plans to “aggressively” strengthen its relationships with such suppliers “at a time global polysilicon supply remains tight.”
Meanwhile, Yingli also has submitted a $56M contract for silicon ingot furnaces from US manufacturing equipment firm GT Solar Inc. The tools, which can grow up to 450kg-sized multicrystalline ingots, will support Yingli’s expansion plans to double ingot capacity to 200MW by the end of next year, and to ~600MW by 2009.
