Solar Power reserves 11MW of Motech’s PV cells

November 14, 2007 – Solar Power Inc. (SPI) has signed a deal to reserve 11MW of Motech’s 150mm multicrystalline photovoltaic (PV) cells to produce its solar modules at a factory in Shenzhen, China. The two firms also are negotiating a further long-term cell supply agreement.

The deal gives SPI additional supply of high-quality cells from one of its primary suppliers, to support anticipated production requirements next year for its 200W panels. “For us this is further indication of the growing US market and demand for photovoltaic products as the adoption of solar energy in all market segments gains momentum,” said Simon Tsuo, CEO of Motech Solar, in a statement.
