Jan. 17, 2008 – ZMD AG has sold its complete SRAM product line to San Carlos, CA-based Alliance Memory, including manufacturing rights, mask sets, IP and all remaining inventory. Alliance will continue to offer the 64k and 256k low-power SRAMs commercial, industrial, and automotive temperature ranges.

For ZMD, the deal further narrows its focus to expanding its analog/mixed-signal product portfolio in sensor signal conditioning, industrial automation, and medical applications, said Dirk Behrens, EVP of marketing, in a statement. Last spring sold its ZFoundry analog/mixed-signal 150mm wafer fab to Germany’s X-Fab for similar reasons. “After numerous requests from customers for our SRAM ICs we are glad to have found in Alliance Memory a partner, who will take over our whole SRAM product portfolio as well as our technology,” he said.

For Alliance, the deal is its latest push to expand its low-power product range, including 64k, 256k, 1M, 2M and 4M. “In the last two years we have acquired two SRAM companies, added a complete Low Power SRAM line-up and established our own testing facility in Taiwan,” noted company president/CEO David Bagby.
