Intersil’s Beyer taking Freescale helm

Feb. 14, 2008 – Rich Beyer, former CEO/director at analog chipmaker Intersil, has been appointed as chairman/CEO of Freescale Semiconductor, less than a week after his predecessor Michel Mayer said he would step down. The official turnover will happen in March.

Freescale director Daniel F. Akerson noted Beyer’s “proven track record in delivering above-market revenue growth and profitability,” citing his track record at Intersil as proof that “he is uniquely qualified to build upon Freescale’s success and drive the long-term execution of our strategic plan”.

“The breadth and depth of Freescale’s technology, its market leadership positions and the strength of its global customer base provide an exceptional foundation for the company’s future success,” Beyer said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the entire Freescale team to build on the long-standing culture of innovation and to solidify our position as a pre-eminent designer and manufacturer of semiconductor solutions.”
