Panasonic/Matsushita, Samsung drop DRAM patent swords

Feb. 2, 2008 – Panasonic/Matsushita Electric Industrial and Samsung Electronics have settled patent infringement lawsuits in the US and Japan, and signed 10-year cross-licensing agreements to use the DRAM and other semiconductor technologies.

Matsushita sued Samsung in early 2002, with the Korean firm filing counterclaims in November of that year, the Nikkei daily notes.

Korean and Japanese chipmakers have often been embroiled in litigation over chip technologies. Last year Samsung lodged a complaint against Renesas with the US International Trade Commission over high-speed DRAM chips, noted the Korea Times.
