Aviza finds new buyer for Scotts Valley site

Mar. 6, 2008 – Aviza Technology has found another buyer for its Scotts Valley, CA headquarters, about six months after a previous offer fell through due to delays getting the project approved.

The new $13M proposed purchase (a bit cheaper than the cancelled $16M deal last fall), similarly includes conditions for a 90-day period of due diligence, during which time the EPA can evaluate commercial use for the 43 acre site, listed as a federal “Superfund” site stemming from use by previous owner Watkins-Johnson.

The proposed buyer, Fowler Property Acquisitions, is an investor in commercial and multifamily properties, and currently own the property where the Santa Cruz Sentinel newspaper is located, previously part of Borland Software’s facility, according to an Aviza statement.

More details about the property and proposed sale agreement are expected to be in an SEC filing sometime in the next week.
