Microfluidics expands bench-top microfluidizer processor line

October 1, 2008: Microfluidics has added three new Microfluidizer bench-top processors to its M-110P family. The new M-110P-20, M-110P-20S and M-110PS deliver all the features and benefits of the M-110P bench-top lab machine, while adding new capabilities and benefits to address unique needs.

The M-110P family of processors provide a solution for cell disruption due to more effective cell breakage and higher disruption efficiencies than any other means. Like the original model, the new additions to the M-110P family require no compressed air or cooling water for hydraulics; the units also operate reliably, quietly, and efficiently, and require a standard 20amp single-phase electrical outlet. A CE compatible version of all three models is also being introduced.

The M-110P-20 is a mid-pressured version of the higher-pressured M-110P model, targeted at biotech applications such as bacterial disruption and mammalian and insect cell disruption. It operates at a lower pressure and lower cost, is able to deliver nanoemulsions, nanosuspensions, nanoencapsulations, and nanodispersions at 20,000psi or lower, and works with a 50ml minimum sample size.

The M-110P-20 harnesses the company’s ceramic interaction chamber to enable the production of nanoemulsions, nanosuspensions, and nanodispersions, as well as liposomal encapsulation and cell disruption, with the fewest number of passes.

The M-110PS and M-110P-20S Microfluidizer processors work with smaller minimum sample sizes of 25ml. The M-110PS utilizes Microfluidics’ diamond interaction chamber technology, while the M-110P-20S utilizes the company’s ceramic interaction chamber technology, and both machines have a ceramic (Zirconia) plunger. All three new models include a glass reservoir for fast and accurate visual identification.

All products in the M-110P family allow flow rates starting at 110ml/minute (95ml/minute for CE versions) depending on process pressure. All results from this family of machines are guaranteed to be scaleable to pilot and/or production volumes.
