Quasys Takes Over Datacon Feeder Lines

(October 24, 2008) CHAM, Switzerland &#151 After the transfer of all product rights from BESI/Datacon (formerly Laurier Inc.) to Quasys, the Laurier feeders will now be manufactured by Quasys in Switzerland.

The products include JEDEC-tray and waffle-pack feeders, which reportedly provide low-cost, high-quality assembly support for a range of applications. Waffle pack feeders are increasingly used to place bare die/flip chips on PCBs and hybrid package. The feeders are microprocessor-controlled to singulate JEDEC trays and waffle packs in 2 and 4&#34 stacks and move them in a position to allow pick-and-place systems to unload active and passive components.

Feeders are available with different conveyor length and communicate with 5, 12, or 24 VDC signals. Plugs and couplers for electrical and pneumatic interfaces are available for easier integration. Optional mount plates can be delivered for various pick-and-place systems.

System integration and spare parts support are only available through Quasys and through business partners in North America and Asia. Quasys operates in Cham, Switzerland and Eichstetten, Germany. For more information, visit www.quasys.ch.
