The Q304-HD laser from JDSU is a high-powered ultra-violet (UV) laser based upon the company’s Q Series UV laser platform. This laser reportedly provides 50% more power and is designed to increase throughput, or the rate at which it conducts micromachining functions such as hole drilling, wafer cutting or singulation, and solar cell processing. In addition, the new laser operates at a higher power level without using additional electrical consumption due to enhancements in laser design.
Other features of this laser incluse longer laser lifespan, 11W of power at 355nm, a beam quality of M2 <1.2, pulse energy stability for repeatability, near instantaneous power control, and process control and flexibility for a wide range materials and machine integration conditions.
