LFoundry opens UK support center, launches “design challenge”

September 15, 2009 – Landshut Silicon Foundry GmbH (LFoundry), the entity that took over Renesas’ Europe operations in late 2008, is expanding operations into the UK and Ireland.

A tech support center will be housed in the Dublin area, though key support kept on-site with customers. Also, the company is planning a series of "technical workshops" across the UK and Ireland to show off its technologies and mixed-signal design techniques to engineers and technical managers — the first of these will be Oct. 2009, focusing on LDMOS and high-voltage circuit design.

The deployment into the UK and Ireland follows "a similar strategy" of the company’s business model that emphasizes technical collaboration to woo high-volume customers, explained CEO Michael Lehnert, in a statement.

Later this year the company plans another event: a mixed-signal and analog design challenge, to promote design innovation in Europe. The winning design will be ushered through concept and preproduction (with support) at no cost.
