Showa Denko JV to make resist solvent in China

March 11, 2010 – Japan’s Showa Denko says it will spend ¥200M for a new JV in China to supply photoresist solvent for domestic manufacturers of semiconductors and LCD panels, expanding its business in Asia outside Japan.

The JV operation in Zhejiang Province, Juhua Showa Electronic Chemical Materials Co. (SDK has 51% share), is set to begin commercial output (5000 tons/year) of high-purity cyclohexanone (CH2)5CO) in August. Raw materials will be sourced from JV partner Juhua Group Corp. The site will incorporate integrated purification/marketing, the company says.

SDK already provides such cleaning agents through plants in Japan (Shunan City, Yamaguci Prefecture) and Taiwan (subsidiary Taiwan Showa Chemicals Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in Tainan City).
