Q2 semiconductor tool sales show 8% droop in bookings

September 8, 2011 — SEMI and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) gathered semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales and shipments data from over 100 global equipment companies that provide data on a monthly basis. While shipments (billings) rose 31% over Q2 2010, sales (bookings) fell 8% YOY.

Worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings reached $11.92 billion in Q2 2011. The billings figure is 1% lower than the first quarter of 2011 and 31% higher than the same quarter a year ago.

Worldwide semiconductor equipment bookings were $10.76 billion: down 3% from Q1 and falling 8% from the same quarter a year ago.
