December 14, 2011 — Solarplaza has created top-10 and top-25 lists for poly-crystalline silicon solar photovoltaics (PV) modules, by efficiency. A mere 0.76% power conversion efficiency difference separates Solland Solar’s top module (16.00%) from the number 10 spot, China Sunergy (15.24%).
Efficiency is one metric to weigh when choosing solar modules for a PV installation. Other factors such as cost, install location, balance-of-system (BoS) integration, can wash out a module’s higher output. Also read: Top solar PV installation markets
Solland Solar’s Sunweb design incorporates 60 polySi solar cells. About half of the top-10 modules use 60-cell designs; the other half are based on 72-cell layouts.
