Slimpin promoted to director in SwRI’s Applied Physics Division

David G. Slimpin has been promoted to director of the Electronics Systems and Robotics Department in the Applied Physics Division at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). He was previously a program manager in the department.

Slimpin joined the SwRI staff in 1998 following employment as a hardware design engineer at a number of electronics companies. Slimpin specializes in electronics circuit design. At SwRI he has been involved in projects to design infrared and ultrasonic communication links, in-system field programmable gate arrays, time division multiplexers, automatic gain control circuits, digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital converters, and intelligent battery chargers. Over the past few years much of his time has been devoted to leading various design teams and working with multiple clients.

As director of the Electronics Systems and Robotics Department, he will guide a staff of 30 engaged in research, development and testing of electronic devices.

Slimpin holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
