Toppan Photomasks, Inc. (TPI) is saddened to announce the death of President and CEO David Murray after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Murray was 55 years old.
“Dave’s accomplishments over his 33-year career are remarkable, but we will remember him most for his deep understanding of the photomask business and his authenticity and passion as a leader,” said Yuichi Kumamoto, senior managing director of Toppan Printing Co., Ltd.’s Material Solutions Division and chairman of TPI’s board of directors. “I personally worked with Dave for many years and, in addition to being a valued colleague who played a great role in our global strategies, he was a dear friend. His contributions to our company will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”
Pursuant to the company’s succession plan, the Toppan Group and TPI’s board have appointed Michael Hadsell, who most recently served as COO, to assume the position of president and CEO. Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Kumamoto added, “We have great confidence in Mike’s ability to lead TPI and be a key member of the Toppan Group global mask business, and extend our best wishes and support to him in the coming years.”
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Murray’s honor to Austin-based children’s charity Wonders and Worries. More information can be found at www.wondersandworries.org.
