11/22/2005 Stamford, CT — FEINFOCUS, a COMET business unit, and Xradia, a developer of ultra-high-resolution X-ray imaging systems for 3-D tomography, have joined forces to develop an advanced 3-D X-ray inspection technology for the semiconductor packaging and medical device industries. The microXCT defect detection system uses non-destructive 3-D tomography to view the complete structure of advanced packages, scanning packages in 3-D at full resolution.

Since the wireless market has to optimize size, performance, and cost, passive integration technology offers advantages for such applications as GSM/DCS and CDMA cell phones, Wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g, and WiMax systems, primarily in RF power amplifiers and front-end modules (FEMs), which are a critical part of those systems.
11/18/2005 November 18, 2005 - The markets for materials, tools, and equipment supporting development of nanoelectronics will more than double to $4.23 billion by 2010, led by development activities in five key areas of the electronics industry, including semiconductors and MEMS/NEMS, according to a new report from SEMI.
11/18/2005 Migdal Ha'emek, Israel — Camtek Ltd. has received an order for several Falcon automatic optical inspection (AOI) systems for semiconductor wafers from a leading Chinese semiconductor manufacturer. The order is valued at $2 million (U.S.), and most of the order is expected to be filled before the end of 2005.
11/17/2005 San Jose, Calif. — The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA)'s forecast of global semiconductor sales this year projects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 10% for the 2005–2008 forecast period. The new forecast projects that worldwide sales of microchips will reach $309 billion in 2008 — a 45% increase from 2004's $213 billion record level.
